My Philosophy

 Welcome!

I’m Amy, a Holistic Doula who certified through H.E.R.B.A.L! My birth-work journey began in 2021 when I attended my first birth as a doula. 

To say the least, after having my son at the age of seventeen I decided to attend the community college and majored in Early Childhood Education. I continued to work in that field for over eleven years. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic I lost my job as a teacher but that then led me into working for a nonprofit organization that provides many wonderful supporting services within our community. I now mother five children, four boys and one girl. Their births have all impacted me in one way or another.  Five births, each one unique and very different. Three hospital births followed by two home births that empowered me in such a way that I wish every mother could experience. After my first homebirth with baby boy number four is when I felt extremely drawn to birth-work and I just knew that one day I would be pursing it. Ten months after my last son was born, I discovered I was pregnant with my daughter.  Six months into my pregnancy, while working a full-time job and preparing myself for my planned unassisted birth I took a leap of faith and enrolled in a doula course. Once my daughter was born, I waited a few months before taking on my first client. My first experience as a doula was simply amazing and it was also a confirmation for myself that I was indeed ment to take this path in birth work. So far I have attended 13 births not including my own and I am looking forward to continue to serve mothers during their most sacred time in life.
